Hmmm I haven’t found anything worth reading recently. This is decent enough to read till the end at least.
This is a story where MC awakens to future events where he essentially gets all his worth suckered up by this other guy who replaced MC’s destiny, gains an app to kickstart his fortune telling / ghost busting (xuanmen) journey and reset his destiny back along the right path. So kinda new premise, kinda old premise. The story is more interesting at the start to me in the first half (MC out for blood while having a sweet romance with ML) compared to the second half (finally knocking out the villain). It is what it is though.
MC, ML and their relationship
MC has a bit of a stubborn streak - very satisfyingly delivering those slaps against the cannon/fodder and villains! Otherwise I don’t really have much to comment on his personality.
ML is like a half-ghost, half-human kind of entity. Anyway, before he meets MC, he always thought he had a split personality at night. It’s kind of funny because when his ghost/night form meets MC, he pressures his human/day form to marry MC quickly. His daytime form is a bit tsundere at the start but of course falls for MC quickly. They do eventually merge btw.
MC and ML basically fall in love with each other at first sight (though it’s also related to their past life) The couple had more interactions in the first half of the story (rolling on the bed, meeting parents and that kind of stuff), after that it’s just MC’s career line mainly. MC usually just wrecks his havoc and ML helps a bit if he needs to.
The previous life, the other characters
The main cannon fodder are MC’s biased biological parents. The main antagonists are the person who tried to replace MC’s fate and this other recluse master. The main antagonists have a rather complicated relationship to MC in their previous life.
There’s also a tragic side couple separated by life and death (well, sort of happy ending) that surprisingly ended up being related to MC in their previous life too. Unexpectedly fitting though. I liked this couple quite a bit.
Conclusion
I think the story was alright, but parts of the story had pacing felt a little bit off, and I liked the first half way more. But overall, it was a good happy ending, most of the logic was tied up decently enough. I wish there was a bit more on the other couple though.
