This is a slight spin on the classic mind reading to change other people’s fate type of story. In this one, MC initially starts off as a fantastical little octopus that clings onto ML with a bunch of spoilers about the world. Other people can see it and hear what it’s thinking, but can’t tell others about it.
MC, ML and their relationship
MC is a little octopus who claims to be a comment barrage system (emmm, so in Chinese video streaming sites, like Bilibili, they have a comment system where comments are displayed by running directly across the video. It can get really messy when there’s a lot of comments!). Anyway, so he basically has a whole bunch of spoilers about “the plot”. Not everyone can hear his thoughts, but a good number of the side characters can.
Now, MC starts off by clinging to ML in his octopus form. ML can’t feel him, but can certainly see that MC has made himself at home. ML is the classic CEO-type of character and most of his family (he has three nephews that he raised) are all cannon fodder than MC saves by spoiling “the plot”.
Their relationship…well, I don’t know how to put it. I guess ML kinda fell for MC at first sight after MC unlocked his human form? They start off as a sponsor-sugar baby relationship, supposedly because ML need an excuse to get close to MC. I then felt it was a fairly abrupt moment where ML decided that he, hey, liked MC and then their relationship took off like a rocket. I feel like the chemistry was there, just a bit lacking in foreshadowing?
Conclusion
This is a fairly fun little story. Not super new in terms of concepts (newish combination of old tropes), but the octopus body of MC is pretty cute. While the relationship between MC and ML didn’t feel the strongest and sometimes the writing style felt a bit off, it was definitely a fairly satisfactory read.
