While this story doesn’t present anything super new, it’s still a fairly cute story featuring an intelligent MC who dabbles a bit in the entertainment industry and picks up a domineering ML as a partner.
MC, ML and their relationship
MC basically goes back home after a long time (kinda awkward family), goes onto a variety show thanks to his middle-school dropout + singer/dancer idol younger brother as his relative. He gets super popular thanks to his looks initially, but then his intelligence and other abilities. MC later goes into the entertainment world due to running into funding issues for his research. Anyway, he seems to be able to do everything and has a witty personality to boot. Yes, it’s very Tom Sue or Jack Sue or whatever Sue of the month it is.
MC attracts lots of fans, one of which is a fangirl with a fairly complicated past. Her brother (ML) is sent to “investigate” MC, and their relationship slowly grows. ML’s family is also kinda awkward, so in a sense there’s a bit of mutual redemption here. Anyway, he’s your classic CEO, a man considered boring and friendless by others, but gradually becomes more down to earth thanks to our MC. He’s also very honest towards MC and honestly their interactions were pretty cute.
Super short roll in the bed scene haha, though I guess this was written at the height of Jinjiang’s censorship scandal. It seems to be a little more relaxed nowadays (that or some authors are more daring!).
Their families
MC and ML are both kind of the “neglected” ones in their family, just in different forms. This kinda gave them leverage when they came out to them as well. Anyway, MC’s younger brother is the main one to appear, because well, both are in the entertainment industry. Anyway, his brother was fairly entertaining to me and forced to study all the time. Considering how neglected MC was, MC really didn’t take it out on his brother and they have pretty good brotherly relationship. MC and ML’s relationship with their parents is rather neutral/distant compared to a lot of novels, but pretty realistic IRL.
The side characters
Some fairly notable characters (but still 1D overall). Most people who get along with MC are fairly rational. MC’s dorm room chat members are all pretty funny.
Conclusion
This story doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but it’s pretty cute and was a happy read for me.
